About
Drift Issue is a twice-yearly magazine about the slow way to travel — and the small rituals that turn a route into a life.
We started Drift Issue with a simple observation: the best travel writing was never about the destination. It was about the hour on the platform, the ferry timetable that is only a suggestion, the courtyard where the afternoon rearranges itself around a book.
Each issue is built around a single mood — the Slow Season, the Long Light, the Quiet Map — and filled with twelve stories from writers who took the slow way there. We publish trains at dawn, deserts crossed by bus, farmhouses above the treeline, and the people who keep those places running.
We are not a listicle, we are not a booking engine, and we will never tell you the ten things you must see. We publish slowly, on purpose, twice a year. If you would like to come along, the letter is the best place to start.
The point of travel is not to arrive. It is to be, for a while, the kind of person who notices. — From the editors, Issue 07
